Library Policies
General
Any adult Texas resident may receive a Wilson County Public Library card with a government issued photo ID and current proof of residence (i.e. recent utility bill or piece of mail). Please note: the information on the proof of residence must match the name of the person applying for the library card. Minors may get their own card provided they are attached to the adult's account who sponsors them.

The library does not restrict anyone from checking out any item that is available. It is up to the card sponsor to monitor the activity on the minor's card.

We ask that you have your library card in hand to check out materials, use computers, or access your record. If you should lose your card or it is stolen, notify the library as soon as possible and the library will block that card so that it can no longer be used. You remain responsible for all use of your card prior to reporting it lost or stolen. There is a $5.00 replacement fee for cards unless a police report is provided.

Library cards are renewed every 12 months so that the library may verify current contact information.

You are responsible for the safe return of all library materials checked out on your card or any minor cards which you have sponsored. You are responsible for fines, fees, and reimbursements to the library for any lost or damaged materials. For this reason, please do not allow others to use your card.

Overnight book returns are available for after-hours drop-offs.
Borrowing
You may check out up to 30 items per card at one time. Within that limit, you may include up to 5 of each: graphic novels, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, back-stock magazines, as well as 1 kit and 1 cake pan.

Most items may be borrowed for 2 weeks. Kits and cake pans for 7 days (1 week), and our paperback collection circulates for 30 days (1 month). Digital Navigation kits and equipment circulate for 14 days (2 weeks). Current magazines and reference materials do not leave the library.
Renewing Library Materials
The library offers a 1 business-day grace period regarding overdue items.

You may renew borrowed library materials in person, by phone, or online up to 3 times, provided that there is not a waitlist and it is not overdue. Interlibrary loan (ILL) items cannot be renewed without prior approval from the lending library.

Wilson County Public Libraries participates in the statewide TexShare Card Program. This program provides you with the borrowing privileges from more than 500 partner libraries in Texas. It includes access to many subscription databases that are ideal for college research, homework, and full-text magazine articles not found in this library. Existing patrons in good standing with 6 months of current activity and no fines may obtain a card at our Floresville location.
Reserving Library Materials
You may reserve Wilson County Library materials in person, by phone, or online. You will be notified as you have requested, by phone, email, or text once the items are available for pick-up. Please set your preferred library when reserving your material and renewing your library card.
Interlibrary Loans (ILL)
Your library card allows you access to books and materials from other libraries across the country through our Interlibrary Loan Program. Ask a staff member for details. Please note: if the requested item is not picked up, the library will charge the requesting patron return postage for the item.
Internet Access within the Library
To use a library computer station, you must have a library card in good standing. Children 11 and under may use the internet only if a parent is sitting with the child. Adults may not give permission to use the Internet for any child not connected to their card. Note: You may only use the card issued to you to access the computers.

Patrons may print documents from our computer stations at $0.25 per black and white copy or $1.00 per color copy. Air-print from a smartphone is also available at $1.00 per page.
Summer Reading Program
When schools are out the library hosts a six-week summer reading program. This is a two-part program where one part takes place in the library with fun and exciting events. The second part is the enjoyment of reading books to earn prizes. These vary from small prizes and food coupons to major prizes that are awarded at the end of the program. Law Library
We offer information about laws as public service for individuals who want to research a legal issue. Electronic resources and computers are available, however, we are unable to provide any legal advice.
Pearson Testing Site
Twice a month on Saturdays the Floresville library branch becomes a Pearson testing site. Over 200 certification tests including GED are now available in Wilson County.

Overdue Fines, Materials, and Lost/Damaged Material
Overdue fines are charged for each business day that the item is past the due date. The library charges $0.20 a day per item for overdue books and printed materials, and $1.00 a day per item for audiovisual materials including audiobooks, DVD movies, and music CDs. Night return boxes are available at all locations for the safe return of items after hours. The library offers one business day of grace for all overdue items.

The library's automated checkout system has the ability to text or email you three days before your items are due as a courtesy reminder. Once the material becomes more than 42 days overdue, you will be mailed a final invoice billing you for the item plus a $5.00 processing fee per item.

You are responsible for reimbursement to the library for any items lost or damaged while borrowed from the library on your account(s). The library charges the cost of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee.
